oil and cold wax

I love abstracted landscapes.  I use oil paints mixed with cold wax medium which provides a luscious texture. The underpainting is created in various ways. In the "winter woods"  series I  make collages from old sewing patterns to incorporate the  lovely brown translucent paper that has sewing symbols and directions.  This is partly to honor my mother who was a wonderful seamstress. Other pieces incorporate underpaintings in pastel or acrylic along with various interesting papers. I call these visual haiku- deceptively simple.
